Bio

Aran Basu, 17, is an 11th grader at Hackley School in Tarrytown, NY. He completed his first year of the Juilliard School Precollege’s vocal program with Lorraine Nubar and Cynthia Sanner. Aran has also studied piano for seven years at The Manhattan School of Music’s Precollege Program under Mark Pakman. He performs chamber and male a Capella at Hackley School. Aran has attended well-known summer festivals such as Interlochen Summer Arts, The Boston University Tanglewood Institute in the US and the Académie Internationale d’Été de Nice in Nice, France.

For the past four years, Aran has also worked with Project Music, an organization that allows music students in the Stamford public school system the opportunity to hone their musical talents and develop critical leadership skills. His volunteer work within the organization has consisted of a fundraiser that equipped Project Music to begin a choral program, individual and group mentorship, teaching, and other forms of support.

Aran has also received the Russ Hogg Grant for Creative Expression in order to film a documentary that explores the presence of work songs in India. The project will span one calendar year and will begin June 2024.
