Shannon Keegan

Fearless MEZZO-SOPRANO SHANNON KEEGAN combines committed vocal technique, dramatic skill, and what her friends would call "an uncanny ability to take it too far," to deliver compelling performances spanning musical theater and opera.

Beginning in Fall of 2022, Shannon will join the venerated Opernstudio at Staatsoper Stuttgart. As a studio member, Shannon will perform several leading and supporting roles, covers, concerts, and recitals on the mainstage.

Shannon began her 2022 season by joining Kentucky Opera to cover Orfeo in Gluck’s masterpiece. Immediately after, she will join Des Moines Metro Opera to sing the Third Spirit in Die Zauberflöte. Fiercely committed to new music, Shannon returns to Des Moines Metro Opera to cover Ginny in the world premiere of A Thousand Acres in 2022. Soon after, Shannon will take part in the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie for the remainder of the summer.

Shannon was recently named the first place winner of the Musicians Club of Women in Chicago. She will present a recital sponsored by the club in their next season. Previously, Shannon was a finalist of Houston Grand Opera’s Concert of Arias, a winner of the Tulsa district and 2nd place Midwestern Region winner of the Laffont Competition, 3rd place winner of SAS Performing Arts Company Competition, and 2nd place winner of NOA’s Vocal Competition.

In 2020, Shannon was meant to join The Santa Fe Opera but the season was canceled. In 2019, she joined Houston Grand Opera's Young Artist Vocal Academy and Des Moines Metro Opera.

Shannon holds a Master’s degree from Rice University- Shepherd School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree from University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

In her free time, Shannon is a voracious bibliophile, writer, visual artist, and equestrian. Shannon will soon be based in Stuttgart, Germany with her Siamese cat and several cast-iron pans.
