Dr. Tish Oney teaches professional, emerging professional and university-level singers in face-to-face and Skype lesson formats. A touring artist-in-residence, lyric soprano and international jazz singer, Dr. Oney headlines as a soloist with symphony orchestras and choirs, and in performing arts series in jazz, baroque music, choral masterworks, sacred music, and big band performances. She often serves as artist-in-residence at universities, conservatories, and with professional ensembles, performing and teaching master classes and workshops in voice and choral music spanning a wide range of genres. Oney has taught classical, opera, music theatre, jazz, and commercial voice at Syracuse University, the University of Southern California, Cal State LA, Hobart & William Smith Colleges, and the University of South Carolina Upstate, among other institutions, and has served as guest artist/visiting professor at several more. She serves as head of jazz voice at ColaJazz Camp and Furman Jazz Camp each summer. She completed certification in Executive Leadership through Cornell University and earned the certificate "Enhancement of the Healthy Voice / Empowerment for the Troubled Voice" through the McClosky Institute of Voice. Oney has presented several workshops and master classes for NATS since publishing her peer-reviewed article, "Dalcroze Eurhythmics: An Application to Voice Pedagogy," in the Journal of Singing. A member of national music honor society Pi Kappa Lambda, Dr. Oney authored the textbook "Jazz Singing: A Guide to Pedagogy and Performance" for Rowman & Littlefield (2021) and "Peggy Lee: A Century of Song" (2020). She regularly writes articles for Classical Singer Magazine and All About Jazz. A 2000-word excerpt from her first book was featured in JazzTimes Magazine in 2020, and she has been featured as an expert on multi-genre singing, voice pedagogy, the music of Peggy Lee, and the Great American Songbook on CBC, Talk Radio Europe, NPR, PRI, Sirius XM, and several radio shows and podcasts. She will appear in a film documentary on the Great American Songbook in 2022. An acclaimed recording artist, performer, composer, arranger, conductor, musicologist, and author, Dr. Oney enjoys a well-rounded international career in music.
