High school Junior Ryan Zhou (baritone) began singing with the Peabody Children’s Chorus at age 10; he has continued his vocal studies at the Peabody Preparatory Institute (Johns Hopkins University) where he is a member of Vocal Performance Academy, and studies with Madeleine Gray.
Ryan’s recent achievements include being named a national winner in the 2024 YoungArts awards, 2nd place in his age group in the NATS National Student Audition, Finalist and “Best Sophomore” in the 2023 Schmidt Vocal Competition, 2nd Place in the Music International Grand Prix, and participation in the Maryland Opera camp for High School singers.
In addition to his musical studies, Ryan is taking the most rigorous school courses and maintains one of the highest GPAs in his class. He participates in numerous academic activities including being the founder and captain of the History Bowl team for his school and winning first place in the State of Maryland in the National History Day Competition. Ryan also plays on his school varsity Tennis Team. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies and baking.
