Soprano, Amelia DeCoster, has been singing classically since 2020 when she started taking voice lessons via Zoom during the height of the pandemic. Her first audition was for the Berlin Opera Academy in 2021, and she secured a spot as a chorus member in Haensel und Gretel.
Since then, she has participated in two world premiere operas through the Vienna Summer Music Festival, and has covered the roles of Donna Elvira from Don Giovanni and Contessa Almaviva from Le nozze di Figaro. From 2021-2023, Amelia was a section leader in the Verdi Chorus, which is where she was introduced to her current voice teacher and California Baptist University.
She is currently studying with Professor Julie Makerov at CBU, as a first-year Masters of Music in Vocal Performance student. She will be singing the roles of Dido and Sorceress in CBU’s upcoming production of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas.
