Bio

Soprano, Breanna Williams is a rising young artist based in Atlanta, GA. Before making her debut as 2nd Woman & 1st Witch in SIU Opera’s production of Dido & Aeneas, she previously performed the role of 1st Chambermaid in Amelia Goes to the Ball. She also made her debut with the Southern Illinois Music Festival as Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi. Some of her other notable roles include Carolina in Il matrimonio segreto, Dorine in Tartuffe, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Glinda in The Wiz, and Consuela in West Side Story. During the summer, she worked with Redwoods Opera Workshop (CA) and SI Music Fest (IL) as a young artist. An avid competitor, Ms. Williams was a semi-finalist in both the central and mid-south regions of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions, Southern Illinois Young Artist Competition (SIYAO) and Orpheus Vocal Competition. Previous engagements include: Veterans Day at 100 with the SI Symphony Orchestra, Mompox and Sinsu Jazz Festivals in Colombia, South America; the world premiere of Anthony Plog’s Magdalene with the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra; featured soloist in the Harry T. Burleigh Spiritual Festival. Currently, Ms. Williams is pursuing a M.M. in Vocal Performance at SIUC and studies with Dr. Brittany Benningfield.
