Italian-American soprano, Francesca Coverini, is a versatile and enthusiastic face in the world of opera. She is currently pursuing her M.M. at the Peabody Institute under the tutelage of the renowned Elizabeth Futral.
Ms. Coverini has taken the stage as a variety of roles, most recently portraying Nora (Riders to the Sea) at the Peabody Institute. This spring she will take the stage again in Peabody’s production of Die Fledermaus while simultaneously performing around the greater Baltimore area. She has also performed the full roles of Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Suor Dolcina (Suor Angelica), and Goldie (Goldie B. Locks and the Three Singing Bears) as well as the partial roles of Despina (Così fan Tutte), Beth (Little Women), and Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro). Ms. Coverini was featured in two world-premiere chamber operas as a part of Tony Arnold’s acclaimed Opera Études class last year.
Ms. Coverini has been recognized for her talent and technique, being awarded the Claire & Allan Jensen scholarship at the Peabody Institute. Preceding this she was announced one of five winners in the CS Music’s Summer Feedback Competition (2022). In 2018, she placed first in the talent category of BMP’s Top Teens Showcase. As a queer, plus-sized woman, Ms. Coverini strives to increase body-positivity, LGBTQ+ representation and diversity as a whole in the world of opera.
