Native to Mexico City, an urban and wilderness explorer, singer Luz Vizcarra mezzosoprano, graduated from the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) as an Opera Singer. She has given various recitals around the world in prestigious festivals in Mexico, Europe, and South America, especially with Rossinian and Vivaldian repertoire.
Luz also holds a B.A. in Education from Universidad del Valle de México. This has helped her hold a career as a music performer, but also to give lectures regarding opera and genre for several orchestras and universities. She has given didactic concerts for indigenous communities in Mexico and Latin America, even on the platforms of the Mexico City Underground! Luz has succeeded in linking her artistic work with political activism regarding the gender conflicts and human rights awareness.
Her career has evolved to become a finalist in national and international singing competitions, like the London Classical Competition, The Medici Competition, and the International Belcanto Competition – Casas Beltrán Medal.
Her thirst for knowledge never meets quenching and she continuously participates in Master Classes with outstanding singers such as Javier Camarena, Elizabeth Blancke-Biggs, Barbara Frittolli,Carlo Colombara, Francisco Araiza, Michael Chance, Debora Voigt, Fredrika Von Stade, among others.
