Sophia Gever

Sophia Gever is a sixteen-year old soprano from the Bay Area, and currently a junior in high school. She has had over seven years of classical training in voice and a multitude of experiences performing solo and as part of a choir. She currently studies with Krassen Karagiozov.

She has performed as part of the adult chorus in the West Bay Opera Company in Palo Alto for two years (Norma, Fidelio, Carmen, La Bohème). She has trained in Florence, Italy, as part of the Bel Canto Institute, a month long summer program comprised of intensive training and Italian immersion. She has also taken part in the San Francisco Summer Conservatory, a three week long opera and theater intensive affiliated with the San Francisco Opera, with a final performance at the Herbst Theater. Some of her recent achievements include being accepted into the Boston Summer Conservatory at Berklee and being a finalist in the 2019 Online CS Competition. She will be attending the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music Summer Voice Intensive in June of 2020.

She is proficient in speaking French and intermediate in Italian. Russian was her first language so she is comfortable reading and singing in Russian.
