Bio

Soprano Madison Z Varriale, from Pound Ridge, NY, is a senior at John Jay High School in Cross River, NY. She studies voice with Lesley Craigie Anselmi. Varriale recently attended The Juilliard School’s Summer Voice Intensive and was a finalist in the 2024 Schmidt Vocal Competition Nationals at the Sarasota Opera House. In 2023, she won First Place at the NATS Eastern Region Auditions in the Lower High School Classical Treble Voice Category and Second Place in the Richard Miller Classical Voice Competition at Oberlin Conservatory. Varriale has previously won awards from the Schmidt Vocal Arts High School Regional Competition (First Place and Most Promising Sophomore) and the Golden Classical Music Awards (First Prize Winner), and she was the youngest finalist in her division at the Classical High School Music Vocal Competiton in 2022. As a founding member and Head of the Music Division of her high school’s Belonging Equity Advocacy Taskforce, Varriale helped to orchestrate their first Community and Culture Day, and she performed classical art songs to honor her multicultural heritage.
