Kelsey Creveling got her start in musical theatre at the young age of 6 when a part was written into her hometown regional theatre’s (Brazosport Center Stages) production of The Madrigal Feast, by Judy James, where she played the role of The Little Maid. From there she went on to perform in shows ranging from Jesus Christ Superstar to The King & I, eventually staring as Gloria in Wait Until Dark, a role which won her a local award. In middle school, she was invited to attend the prestigious Beginnings Workshop by Peter Sklar, before she was convinced by her intermediate school choir teacher of her inability to sing and encouraged to give up all performing arts.
After about 17 years, a full consulting career, and numerous public speaking events later, along with a search for joy during the 2020 pandemic, Kelsey began taking voice (and piano) lessons at the Utah Conservatory – training with Debra Cook. Reunited with her voice and a new found awe of the healing powers of music and self-expression, Kelsey is loving the opportunity to sing and perform again and is grateful for the opportunity to train with the Utah Conservatory, NYC Broadway vocal coach Christopher Stephens, and Houston Grand Opera's Elizabeth Gautsche.
A soubrette soprano, with a large range and ability to transition across various vocal styles - she was recently a second-round selection for the 2021 and 2022 CS International Vocal Competition in both Musical Theatre & Classical pre-professional/emerging pro categories, and as a result was recruited by AAMS Opera to join their 2021 International Summer Music Institute as a talent-based scholarship recipient (she has been invited to return for summer 2022). She was also accepted to The American Musical and Dramatic Academy's (AMDA) musical theatre collegiate program as a scholarship recipient for the summer 2022 cohort.
In winter of 2021, she was invited to join the American West Symphony & Chorus for their holiday concert series - performing Bach's Christmas Oratorio under the direction of Chorus Master - Ljuba Kelly & Conductor - Joel Rosenberg. She also had the privilege of joining Tanya Taylor & Debra Cook in the 2021 Park City Holiday Spectacular Concert series - performing The First Noel to Tanya Taylor's Pachelbel's Christmas Canon. In April 2022, she joined the ensemble of Debra Cook’s musical, ‘Jilted to Perfection’ while also serving as the evening's Emcee with a performance at The Triad theatre in New York City.
