Bio

Heather Gallagher , mezzo-soprano

Ms. Gallagher’s work has been hailed for its “vivid, theatrical intensity” as well as its “perfection”(Boston Globe). Recent engagements include Haroun and the Sea of Stories (BMOP, Gil Rose, conductor), the world premiere of The Nefarious… Mr. Burke and Mr. Hare (Margaret, Boston Lyric Opera), Calixto Bieito's Carmen (Mercedes; Carmen cover, BLO) and Patience (Lady Saphir, Odyssey Opera), Trouble in Tahiti (Dinah, Metrowest Opera), Sumeida's Song (Asakir, BOC) and the title role in Carmen with Metrowest Opera.

Last year, Ms. Gallagher created Cultural Wasteland, an eclectic company that focuses on small works and artist collaboration. With Cultural Wasteland she has produced a chamber version of Das Lied von der Erde, The Birthday Show Part 2: A Cabaret, Tom Lehrer for President!, Britten + Auden, “Crazy B#tch!”: Classical Music’s Difficult Women and Boston Song: New Music from Boston Based Composers.
