Bio

Almudena López Jal-Ladi, born in Tenerife (Canary Islands), Spain, began her vocal studies at the age of 16 at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Tenerife. She made her professional debut in 2014, performing the role of Rita in Donizetti’s opera Rita at the Teatro Guimerá in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Almudena also shone as a soloist in the project Conoce la Ópera, Vive la Ópera, organized by the Amigos del Teatro Leal de La Laguna.

In 2018, she completed her vocal studies at the Conservatorio Superior del Liceu in Barcelona and currently resides in Hamburg. Over the years, she has participated in masterclasses with renowned opera singers and pianists, including Montserrat Caballé, Dolora Zajick, Raúl Giménez, and Celso Albelo.

Almudena has won numerous awards, such as second prize at the Concorso Internacional de Música Les Corts and the Barcelona Music Festival in 2017. She also had the privilege of a private masterclass with Montserrat Caballé. That same year, she joined the Opera Studio at the Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, where she debuted as Lauretta in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi.

She gained critical acclaim for her performance as the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte in 2018 at the prestigious Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, and in 2019 at the Kursaal in San Sebastián with Opus Lirica. Almudena has also performed the role of Violetta Valéry in Verdi’s La Traviata at the Palau de la Música Catalana as part of Novaria Artists’ productions.

In 2020, despite the pandemic affecting several planned projects, she continued to perform, including concerts with the Orquesta Simfònica del Vallès under Ramón Gener. More recently, she has performed Beethoven’s 9th Symphony as a soloist with the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg and the HansePhilharmonie, singing in major venues such as Bremen’s Die Glocke, the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, and the Berliner Philharmonie.

Almudena continues to perform actively, including roles in productions of Weber’s Der Freischütz with the Eutin Choir and cover roles in Jungfernkranz.
