Annie Schwartz, a Virginia native, holds a BA in music and English literature from Bennington College in Vermont, and an MM in Classical Vocal Performance from the University of Tennessee's Knoxville Opera Studio. Since returning to the DMV, she has performed with various local ensembles in such works as the Brahms Requiem, Fauré's Requiem, Mozart's Davide Penitente, Schubert's Mass in G, and Bach’s The Childhood of Jesus. Annie is a poetry lover, particularly interested in the interplay between music and text, and spent covid lockdown creating and subsequently performing “Ecstatic Solitudes,” a recital of vocal and piano music that explores expressions of solitude, prominently featuring Barber’s Hermit Songs, and Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder. Ms. Schwartz is a two-time winner of the Washington, DC region NATS competition.
