Bio

Margarita Parsamyan is a native of Armenia, finishing her Bachelor’s of Music Degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Oklahoma (OU). Ms. Parsamyan has performed in various opera productions at OU Opera Theater, most notably as La chauve-souris in Ravel’s L'enfant et les sortilèges. She performed the role of Fleta in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe at Cimarron Opera. In summer 2021, she will make her debut at Chicago Summer Opera as Sandmann in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel. Ms. Parsamyan is invited to perform in Aquillon Music Festival this summer.

Ms. Parsamyan has been constantly selected to perform in various opera scenes at OU Opera Scenes Program, where she has appeared as Juliette in Gounod’s Romeo et Juliette, Cendrillon in Viardot’s Cendrillon, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and Second Lady in Die Zauberflöte by Mozart. In addition to performing operatic repertoire, she had several solo recitals which went beyond the traditional classical pieces and included Russian Romance and Armenian classical and folk songs. She is one of the selected students who takes voice lessons from a legendary mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne when she visits OU.

Margarita is an award-winning soprano. Her most recent achievements include the First Prize at Great Composers Competition, Second Prize at TEXOMA NATS Competition and the Third Prize at Oklahoma Regional NATS Competition. She was awarded the Davis and the Zelby Family Endowed merit and performance-based scholarships to purse her education in Vocal Performance.

Ms. Parsamyan regularly collaborates with contemporary composers. She was the soprano soloist in the world premiere of Andastan Cantata composed by Vache Sharafyan. After the premiere, she was invited to perform this soprano solo in several cities of France under the baton of French-American conductor George Pehlivanian. She has toured around Armenia with composer Robert Amirkhanyan and Yerevan State Opera House Orchestra performing Amirkhanyan’s songs in charity concerts.
