Singing “beautifully and intelligently”, (Jay Nordlinger, The New Criterion) Mikki Sodergren’s vocal flexibility has afforded her many wonderful musical opportunities. From developing new musicals for NYU Tisch, the BMI Lehmen-Engel Songwriting program, Disney Theatricals and the National Theatre of Great Britain, to classic works, performing the Mezzo Soprano and Alto solos in Rachmaninoff’s Vespers, Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Haydn’s Harmoniemesse - Ms. Sodergren enjoys variety. Recent popular credits include Aldonza, opposite three-time Emmy®-nominee Ron Raines (Man of La Mancha), Eponine opposite legendary Jean Valjean, Craig Schulman (Les Miserables), and pops concerts with the symphonies of Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Hilton Head Island, the Savannah Philharmonic, and the New Jersey Festival Orchestra. Classically, Ms. Sodergren has been seen as the Journalist, Brooke and Agent Baker, in the World Premiere of Kamala Sankaram’s new opera Looking At You, has performed Handel’s Messiah with the Johnstown Symphony, Haydn’s Harmoniemesse with the Cathedral Choral Society and the Washington Bach Consort at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., and toured Europe and the United States with the English Concert, for their performance of Handel’s Semele. An active choral performer, Ms. Sodergren’s projects have garnered Emmy® Awards (“We Believe” for the 2018 Macy’s Day Parade), and three Grammy® nominations with the Clarion Choir and the Experiential Orchestra. Sodergren will be featured as the Alto soloist on the forthcoming recording of Rachmaninoff’s Vespers from the four-time Grammy®-nominated Clarion Choir. Mikki currently serves as the Artistic Director of the American Traditions Vocal Competition in Savannah, Georgia, where all styles of music are celebrated equally.
