Lauren Funkhouser is a rising senior majoring in vocal performance and double minoring in French and German studies at the College of Charleston. Operatic roles at the College include Adele in Die Fledermaus, Olympia in Les contes d’Hoffmann, and Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte. Other roles include covering Adina in L’elisir d’amore with Charleston Opera Theater, performing Papagena and covering Die Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte with Berlin Opera Academy, and role studying Tatyana in Eugene Onegin with Russian Opera Workshop. Lauren has also organized 2 fundraising concerts to raise money for the opera program at the College of Charleston. Lauren has attended summer programs such as Music Academy of the West, Berlin Opera Academy, Russian Opera Workshop, Washington National Opera Institute, and Interlochen Arts Camp. This summer she attended “Si parla, si canta” in Arona, Italy to do an in-depth study of Italian repertoire and language.
