Janell Cherie, Soprano
After earning her teaching certificate and working in public education as a choral director, Janell Cherie is a second-year candidate in the Master of Music-Vocal Performance program at Texas Christian University as a Graduate Assistant in Voice. Janell has been nationally recognized in singing as a finalist in the National Society of Arts and Letters-Musical Theatre competition and internationally recognized as a recipient of the "Emerging Talent" award in 2015 from the Lotte Lenya competition. She has appeared as a hired soloist in Bill Doherty's Requiem Mass and Mozart's Mass in C Minor performed by Corpus Christi Chorale, as well as Mozart's Requiem in D Minor performed by Del Mar Master Chorus. Janell has had the opportunity to perform abroad in Italy, England and Taiwan as a recital soloist and in operatic productions. Some of her favorite roles of performance include Atalanta in Handel’s Serse, Mabel in The Pirates if Penzance, and the title role inRodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella.
