Leora is a San Francisco based Mezzo-Soprano. Her favorite roles performed include Prince Charmant in Massenet's Cendrillon (2019) & Dido in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (2018). She has performed in a number of amateur and professional venues, including the Herbst Theatre and at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Currently, Leora is working on a project focusing on song cycles composed by women, including Clara Schumann, Pauline Viardot, and Florence Price.
She was introduced to opera at a young age when her family took her to see Carmen at the San Francisco Opera; however, growing up, she took to musical theatre and jazz. Her love for the performing arts made her venture out and pursue many different aspects of performance, such as directing and teaching, which made her love the art even more, and eventually, she found her niche in the operatic arts.
While working with baritone Eugene Brancoveanu, she was able to act as Stage Manager and Assistant for San Francisco Opera Guild’s Summer Conservatory production of The Snow Queen. Leora took charge of many group classes that covered a large range of material, from important composers to overcoming performance anxiety. Upon finishing the program, Leora uses her large array of skills to perform, teach, and write an informative blog.
She is currently studying with Canadian soprano Rhoslyn Jones and is pursuing a degree in Vocal Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
