Bio

Growing up in a musical family, Julie was introduced to music early on. At the age of 17, she received lessons in singing technique and interpretation from Daniel Ottevaere at the Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot in Paris, followed by tutelage under Olga Toporkova to further perfect her talent.

From 2015 to 2017, Julie was a member of the International Opera Academy of Gent, where she was given the opportunity to perform the roles of Eleonora (in Salieri’s Prima la musica e poi le parole) and Eurydice (in Telemann’s Orpheus) in theaters such as the Bozar in Brussels, Hetpaleis in Antwerp, and the Minard in Gent. During the 2016-2017 season, she played Zwaantje in Guy Joosten’s Zwanemans in Hetpaleis in Antwerp and at the Flemish Opera in Gent.

From 2017 to 2021 Julie has been artist-in-residence under the direction of José van Dam at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel. There she was offered the role of Pamina in the “Magic Flute” opera by Mozart with performances in Belgium and in the Grand Théâtre of Luxembourg.

In October 2018, she performed the role of Cinderella in Pauline Viardot’s opera at the Royal Opera of Wallonia. Julie’s collaboration with the Royal opera of Wallonia continued in October 2019 since she interpreted The Love in the Opera Orphee and Euridyce (Gluck/Berlioz)

Julie has performed in numerous prestigious concert halls, including Flagey, Bozar (Brussels), the Royal Festival Hall Stage (London), the Grand Auditorium of Unesco, Salle Cortot (Paris), the Catamarca Amphitheatre (Argentina), the Appeldoorn Amphitheatre (The Netherlands), the Hofburg concert hall (Vienna) etc…

After being nominated by Radio Musiq’3 as Belgian representative in the competition “Jeunes solistes des médias publics francophones”, she received the public prize. Prior to that she won the 2nd prize in the international Flame Competition in Paris and the 1st prize in the international Cobelli Lieder competition in Italy, together with her partner, the pianist Pablo Matías Becerra.

More recently Julie started working closely with the Belgian composer of Iraqi origin Qoutayba Neaimi. She was deeply involved in the creation of several compositions including his cantata which was produced in Salle Boulez (Berlin) and Arsonic (Mons). Their collaboration will continue with concerts in Egypt, Abu Dhabi and Lebanon.
