Why We Sing

Mariah Salazar:

I perform because it is life. I can be anything I want to be. The stage does not care about your past, where you came from, where you’re going, what you had for breakfast that day; the only things that matter are the few perfect moments when you are able to share the most intense and personal emotions with a room full of beautiful strangers. As your blood boils beneath your skin, you realize that real life is so much more than what we experience in our everyday lives. Magic is real. And it exists. On stage.

That is why I perform. Thanks for asking!

Nancy Mitchell:

I sing because God gave me a voice that receives compliments when I sing. I mostly sing in our church choir, however during the summer when the choir is inactive, I still sing when in the congregation. Almost every weekend someone turns to me and says that I have a lovely voice and/or that I should join our choir. I sing because the kind comments are oftentimes what keeps me going. I sing because music is my passion.
