Letter’s To The Editor

Dear Editor: The magazine is … a useful resource. I especially am appreciative of the medical information. It was instrumental in my avoiding intubation in a recent surgical procedure.
—Wanda Lau, Pasadena, Calif.

Dear Editor: Such a great magazine! It has helped propel my career as a classical singer and has greatly exposed me to many different avenues of music.
—Parker Burton, New York, N.Y.

Dear Editor: It would be nice if there were a way to prepay for the singer website as an option to paying with a credit card. Thanks!
—Name Withheld, Philadelphia, Penn.

Dear Editor: I really like the Bulletin Board. Interesting info, presented with style.
—Mary Jane Ayers, Washington, D.C.

Dear Editor: Thank you for the Sept. ‘05 story regarding The James Madison University Opera Intern Program with the German opera company. The summaries in student journals at the conclusion of the experience reflect details of this life-changing opportunity to interact with professional German musicians. Congratulations to the mentor, Dr. Dorothy Maddison, assistant professor of voice at the JMU School of Music in Harrisonburg, Va.
—Geneva Eschweiler, Minneapolis, Minn.

Dear Editor: I am a 27-year-old aspiring opera singer. This magazine has been a wonderful resource that allows me to stay connected to the opera world while I continue my training. After I finished my undergraduate degree, I took several years privately before continuing my professional journey. This magazine has served as my compass while I worked odd job after odd job to pay the rent.
—Robin Griffeath, Tucson, Ariz.

Dear Editor: Please keep the great variety of articles coming! I’d love to see more things on singers’ favorite vocal exercises.
—Crista Orefice, Stanhope, N.J.

Dear Editor:Classical Singer is a great magazine, but I wish we had a Canadian version. Seventy dollars is a very expensive subscription, especially when there is very little information pertinent to Canadians about singing in Canada. Canada has a large number of very exciting singers on the world stage, even though we are a much smaller country, population-wise. Canada also hosts some significantly excellent summer music programs, which I’ve never seen mentioned in your magazine. Nor have I seen mention of the very top-notch opera programs offered by the COC [Canadian Opera Company].
—Wendy Love, via e-mail

[Editor’s Note: The September 2005 issue of Classical Singer highlighted four major music programs at Canadian universities. We will continue to look for other opportunities to highlight additional Canadian singing opportunities.]
