Patricia Wise made her operatic debut as Susanna in Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro with the Kansas City Lyric Opera while still in college at the University of Kansas. After training at the Metropolitan Opera Studio, she joined the companies of Santa Fe Opera and the New York City Opera where she sang many leading roles for the first time. The soprano performed the major Italian and French lyric roles. Ms. Wise became a sought-after teacher and joined the faculty of Indiana University School of Music in 1995. She gives master classes regularly in Vienna, Salzburg, San Francisco, and continues teaching the singers of the Washington National Opera Young Artist Program now in its third year. Many students and former students of Professor Wise are singing in Young Artist Programs and Opera companies including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco, Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Paris, and Milan.
