Have you ever had a great head shot? When deciding on a photographer do you become frustrated because you really don’t know what to look for? What are the do’s and dont’s you should know when interviewing photographers?
These are questions that often come to my mind after consultations I have had with many perspective clients in the 20 years I have been in business.
Many times, clients come to me and show me their old head shots and I am amazed at what I see. I am not sure what it is other photographers do to undermine their best potential but my first vision of them when they walk into the door almost always is more impressive in person than what I see in their shots.
So here are some tips on what to look for when looking for a photographer so you can get the best shot possible.
When interviewing photographers here are the elements you should look for and I truly feel every great photographer should possess:
- Talent
- Knowledge of make up and hair and styling.
- Back drop creativity.
- How to bring out a variety of attitudes in a subject.
- Touch up ability.
- Reproduction referrals.
- Most importantly they should make you feel at ease and assist you through the entire process, from shoot to making sure you get an amazing reproduction. All the hard work from you and the photographer can be lost if the copies you are handing out aren’t the best possible quality.
