About Us
We were born to help Singers!
Since 1988, Classical Singer has been dedicated to helping singers find community and reach the next level of their career or education. Classical Singer originally began as the New York Opera Newsletter, a publication of local auditions and jobs listings. It quickly grew into a global magazine and an organization, CS Music, with annual events through the world. CS Music has become the place for singers to grow their craft, make connections, and find purpose in their passion!
There are just not enough ways to say thank you. CS gave us hope when we were hopeless, a fresh start when life was falling apart and an open door to unprecedented opportunities that we would have never had.
Our Mission
Our goals are simple.
#1: Donate Classroom Subscriptions
Give Classical Singer Magazine to every school in the country.
#1: Donate Classroom Subscriptions
Give Classical Singer Magazine to every school in the country.
First, we want to raise enough money to give a grant to every high school and university in the country a Classroom Subscription to Classical Singer. By adding the magazine into every classroom, young singers will get exposure to the professional singing community, be inspired by opera and musical theatre stars who were once in their position, and learn invaluable insights into technique, health, and auditions.
Classical Singer should be part of every singer’s repertoire.
I highly recommend Classical Singer—the information it includes is so valuable to singers.
Classical Singer magazine is THE source for all things “Voice”. Everything in the magazine is relevant and useful – from articles relating to vocal health, longevity and stamina to information about summer programs and collegiate programs, auditions, performance opportunities and young artist programs.
#2: Increase Prize Money
Raise an additional $50,000 to Give to Singers
#2: Increase Prize Money
Raise an additional $50,000 to Give to Singers
Since 2004, more than $24 million in scholarships have been awarded via CS Music events and services.
Second, we want to dramatically increase the prize money at the annual CS Vocal Competition from $13,000/year to $50,000/year. One hundred percent of the prize money raised goes to the singers directly. Schools already offer more than $4 Million in scholarships each year, but we want to give the singers even more financial help!
My son Teddy studies both vocal performance and musical theatre at Oklahoma City University. The faculty found him through CS Music and awarded him A VERY GENEROUS SCHOLARSHIP. Thank you for your platform as it led to the perfect school choice!
Thanks to CS Music I received a scholarship to the University of Miami Frost School of Music Salzburg Program. The whole experience validated my decision to pursue voice in college and it gave me the confidence to know that I could do it. I’m thrilled to have been accepted into both Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School.
I wanted to let CS know that my experience and participation in your competitions were instrumental in my success during the college audition process… As a result I am happy to say I will be attending The New England Conservatory of music this fall to pursue a music degree in vocal performance.
