Marcía Porter

Award-winning soprano Marcía Porter is an active recitalist and has performed in numerous venues throughout the United States, Italy, Brazil, and the Czech Republic. Porter, a Fulbright Scholar, earned degrees from Northwestern University and the University of Michigan, where she studied with Professor Shirley Verrett. Dr. Porter joined the Florida State University faculty in 2002 and serves as a Professor of Voice and the Coordinator of Voice and Opera in the College of Music. Porter is a founding member of My Sister’s Keeper, a group of four musicians dedicated to the performance of works by black women composers.
