Jazz and The Great American Songbook

Hone your jazz chops with Dr. Tish Oney as you explore standards from the Great American Songbook!

Participants should bring sheet music or a lead sheet for a jazz standard/Great American Songbook piece to perform in this masterclass setting.

Tish Oney

Jazz singer, symphony soloist, recording artist and light lyric soprano Dr. Tish Oney has headlined throughout the world with her jazz combos, The Tish Oney Jazz Orchestra, the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors, the Detroit Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Williamsburg Symphony, Aiken Symphony, and several other professional ensembles. She has taught voice and jazz at eight universities and served as visiting artist at several more. In 2022 she published her second internationally acclaimed book, "Jazz Singing: A Guide to Pedagogy and Performance." An expert in multi-genre singing, Dr. Oney teaches professional singers in opera, classical literature (in six languages), jazz, musical theatre, and commercial styles. She presented her research at the 2022 International Congress of Voice Teachers in Vienna, Austria and serves on the editorial board of the NATS Books Program. Dr. Oney is the founder and director of GVL JazzVoice Summer Camp in Greenville, SC. She serves as Director of Education for GVLJazz.
