Singing with Purpose: Exploring Technique and Expression
Work with Lamar voice faculty to move from studio to stage.
Presenter
Debra Greschner has appeared as soprano soloist with Nevada Symphony, Symphony of Southeast Texas, Las Vegas Symphony, Nevada Opera Theatre, and at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. Her repertoire includes contemporary works, cabaret, music theatre, oratorio, and opera. Greschner holds degrees from the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Before joining the voice faculty at Lamar, she taught at UNLV, and was a member of the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist in Residence roster. She serves as Associate Editor (Book Reviews) for Journal of Singing and is a founding faculty member of the Vocology Certificate program at Lamar.
Serdar Ilban has performed with prestigious opera companies across the U.S., Europe, and Israel, including New York City Opera, Sarasota Opera, and New Israeli Opera. Notable roles include Escamillo in Carmen, Dr. Malatesta in Don Pasquale, and the title role in Gianni Schicchi. Dr. Ilban holds degrees from the University of Istanbul, The Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He is an associate professor at Lamar University, where he also serves as vocal area coordinator and director of the Lamar Opera Theatre. He has presented research on voice pedagogy and remains active as both a performer and clinician.
