Description
The Music Department of The College of Wooster seeks applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor in choral music to begin in August 2025. The successful candidate will direct the award-winning, nationally recognized Wooster Chorus, teach choral conducting and courses in music education, supervise student teachers, and maintain an active record of scholarly/artistic activity. The person in this position will also lead the Wooster Chorus on an annual domestic tour as a means of public engagement and a recruiting tool for the College. Additional responsibilities will be assigned based on the background and interests of the candidate and/or needs of the Department of Music.
Qualifications
Completed Doctorate in Music or Music Education; ABD considered. Prior college-level teaching experience, demonstrated experience teaching in a secondary or 4-12 school setting, and licensure/teaching certification are preferred. Candidates with diverse experiences in global choral music are welcomed and all candidates are encouraged to provide evidence of effective teaching, ensemble performance, recruitment and leadership, as well as a commitment to programming works that bring a breadth of musical offerings to the College.

The cover letter and teaching philosophy should include information on your understanding of student-centered teaching and mentoring, as well as plans or goals for advancing these efforts as College of Wooster faculty. Candidates are also encouraged to submit evidence of effective teaching, such as syllabi and student evaluations.
