Description
The University of Iowa School of Music invites applications for a collaborative colleague to serve as Associate Director of Choral Studies at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning in the Fall 2025. This is a full-time, one-year position, renewable up to three years pending positive reviews and budgetary approval.
The successful candidate will lead one or more choral ensembles in the School of Music, and teach graduate choral literature and undergraduate choral conducting. The candidate will work closely with the Director of Choral Studies in administering the choral ensembles and graduate program, building on the program’s tradition of success and excellence while responding to current trends in the profession. The candidate is expected to be involved in state, regional, and national professional choral organizations and to serve as a resource to choral music educators in the state.
Education Requirement:
* Earned doctorate in choral conducting or equivalent (ABD considered; doctorate must be in hand by start date)
Required Qualifications:
* Evidence of successful teaching/conducting experience as a choral conductor and director
* Demonstrated success teaching singers of various skill levels, experiences, and backgrounds
