The Department of Music in the Cook-Cole College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position (F0053) to begin in August 2025.

Responsibilities include:

* Directing the auditioned SATB choir

* Directing the auditioned SSA choir

* Teaching Beginning Conducting

* Teaching Choral Methods and Advanced Choral Conducting

* Establishing and maintaining an active agenda of performance and scholarly/creative work

* Collaboration with colleagues, attendance at university and departmental events

* Depending on qualifications, additional duties may include teaching * Show Choir techniques, aural skills, music courses in the Civitae general education curriculum, or courses in music business, technology, or audio engineering.

This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus.

The successful candidate must have an earned Doctorate in Music by August 2025. University-level applied teaching experience and experience in conducting collegiate choirs are required. Preference will be given to candidates whose general teaching credentials in music best complement the expertise of current music faculty. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to student recruitment and the development of relationships with secondary school music teachers, show flexibility regarding teaching load, and be willing to collaborate and serve on committees.
