The School of Music in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Delaware, seeks a full-time, continuing track Assistant Professor of Voice to teach applied voice and courses in voice literature. This is a full-time, fully benefited position with a focus on teaching. The School of Music is a vibrant community of musicians, educators, and scholars, providing dynamic performances and academic experiences for a diverse and inclusive community of students across the many areas and disciplines at the University of Delaware. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Teach applied lessons in classical, musical theater, and commercial styles to voice majors.
* Hold weekly studio classes.
* Recruit undergraduate majors in Applied Music (Performance) and Music Education.
* Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in voice literature.
* Participate in school activities and governance and service to the School of Music, the college, and/or the university, as workload allows.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
* A completed DMA in voice performance/pedagogy
* Experience teaching classical, musical theater, and commercial applied voice at the university and/or community college level; preference will be given to candidates with five years of full-time university and/or community college-level experience
* Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in lyric diction, voice pedagogy, and/or voice literature
* Experience and proficiency as a vocal soloist, clinician, presenter, and/or researcher
* A strong belief in the value of a robust choral tradition and experience recruiting undergraduate voice majors
* Low voice candidates (mezzo soprano, contralto, countertenor, baritone, bass-baritone, or bass) are especially encouraged to apply
