The WVU School of Music invites candidates who demonstrate success working with multiple styles of voice at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The primary assignment is teaching applied voice employing both traditional and contemporary techniques that serve the numerous degrees and unique goals of our diverse student population. Attracting and maintaining an active studio of voice students is expected. Participation in School of Music activities and faculty governance is required. The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a national or international professional profile through performance as a singer and/or research & creative activity. Additional teaching responsibilities may include voice pedagogy, lyric theatre / opera workshop, diction, class voice, or other duties according to the needs of the School of Music and the abilities of the candidate. A full-time, nine-month tenure-track appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS: Outstanding Artist/Teacher who has demonstrated excellence in voice performance and a record of successful teaching in applied voice at the college level. Doctoral degree in voice required. A comprehensive understanding of classical and contemporary vocal genres, styles, and performance practices, a commitment to nurturing today’s multifaceted vocal artists, and the desire to contribute to a vibrant vocal arts program are essential. The School of Music seeks a candidate who will demonstrate exemplary communication skills, collaboration, and the ability to contribute to the artistic, intellectual, and cultural life of the University. Preference will be given to Soprano or Mezzo-Soprano voice types, but all voice types will be considered.
