—Since 1977, the Glenn Miller Birthplace Society has honored the music and memory of Glenn Miller by offering an annual scholarship.
The competition is open to graduating high school seniors and first year college students who intend to make music a central part of their future.
Applicants must complete the following requirements and have them uploaded to their dropbox by 5 pm May 15th. A follow-up email to Shari once you have uploaded all the required documents will make sure we have received everything you have sent in.
1. Application Form: Enter in only ONE category (instrumental or vocal). Fill out application form completely and legibly, sign, have your parent sign, and return via the “DROPBOX” procedure we have outlined in this document. (Can be found on page 4 of the Scholarship Competition packet)
2. Audition Pieces: You will need to upload (2) music selections of your choice on YouTube of contest level material in contrasting styles. Any accompaniment must be limited to piano only.
3. Statement of Musical Intent: This is usually 3 to 4 paragraphs about how music will be a central part of your future and why you want to enter the GMBS Competition.
4. Travel Information document—make sure to provide a copy of your travel itinerary.
