Portland Opera Resident Artist

Portland Opera established its Resident Artist Program in 2005 and since then has invited over 52 singers from around the country to join the company for a rigorous residency and training program centered around bridging that final step between the academic and professional world of opera. The aim of this program is to guide emerging artists through that final step. Alumni of the program have gone on to sing with countless opera companies around the world including the Metropolitan Opera, Seattle Opera, Dallas Opera, Santa Fe Opera, San Francisco Opera, New Orleans Opera, Theater Basel, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro alla Scala, Opernhaus Zurich, and more.

2025-26 PROGRAM DATES:

Early September 2025 to late April 2026, with a hiatus over the winter holidays.

In-person auditions will be granted by appointment only after submission. While we wish we could hear all interested singers, due to time, we may not be able to able to offer auditions to all applicants. Finalists may be asked to participate in additional virtual interviews via Zoom.
