Freies Landestheater Bayern

Since its founding in 1981, the FREIE LANDESTHEATER BAYERN has seen itself as a folk theater in the best sense of the word. We play everything that is fun, popular, challenging and of quality. Classical operas, operettas, musicals, singspiels and "classics for children" are our domain. We do not deny our local roots in the Bavarian Oberland. The idea of ​​producing musical theater "from the region for the region" with high standards encourages us to recognize our cultural roots and to remain authentic. The motto "think globally, act locally" inspires our efforts to interpret timeless themes of humanity in the sense of a "high culture in Bavarian", but by no means in a rustic or even "silly" way.

With professional productions, colorful images, well-known soloists and a pinch of hidden meaning, the Freie Landestheater Bayern has now matured into a permanent fixture on Bavaria's stages. The ensemble has now given over 1000 performances and has delighted its audience with excellence and good humor. Courageous, but not crude. Elaborate, but not full of airs and graces. Skilled - and not just intentional.
