Edvard Grieg Vokalensemble

Edvard Grieg Vokalensemble (EGV) is Bergen’s professional classical vocal ensemble, consisting of 8 singers in 70% salaried positions. EGV’s primary focus is a cappella singing as an 8 voiced ensemble, whilst also forming the core ensemble in Edvard Grieg Kor. Edvard Grieg Kor is a chamber choir consisting of the 8 singers in EGV plus 8 to 12 regular guest singers. EGK is currently under the musical direction of Chief Conductor, Edward Gardner. Recent highlights for EGK include the performances of Ligeti’s Lux Aeterna and Requiem at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

In addition to a cappella singing, the ensemble is also fulfilling obligations to our important artistic collaborative partners, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and Bergen National Opera, for whose productions we provide the professional choral element. For symphonic and opera chorus productions the ensemble is expanded up to 32 singers, depending on the requirements of each project.
