The Kammertheater was founded in 1956 and is a modern stage in a former bank with plays, musicals and cabaret as well as many famous actors, such as Hugo Egon Balder, Susanne Pätzold or Richy Müller. With Bernd Gnann in the management and Ingmar Otto in the artistic direction, the theater with 250 seats and the motto "theater that is fun" has quickly established itself as a popular meeting place for people interested in culture.
The private theater shares the listed building with the "Alte Bank" restaurant. Delicious food and drinks are offered here - in summer also in the beautiful beer garden.
In order to be able to play popular productions more often and to be able to realize new pieces earlier, a second venue was opened in autumn 2013 with the K2 at Kreuzstraße 29. The K2 was once a church and offers space for 220 spectators.
In addition to the two permanent venues, guest performances are regularly offered on the stage of the restaurant "Im Schlachthof", Alter Schlachthof 7. There is space for around 75 people.
