Bio

MIA BACH

Pianist

A passionate advocate of music and music education, Ms. Bach has devoted her career to contributing to all levels of the musical community in which she has resided. Her professional experience spans the spectrum of a professional pianist: junior to advanced piano pedagogy; concerto appearances with orchestras, recitalist; chamber music; touring soloist; instrumental, choral and vocal accompanying and coaching.

Ms. Bach’s interest in the collaborative arts began during a decade spent as a scholarship student at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Following her studies at Eastman, Ms. Bach simultaneously pursued two Master of Music degrees, in performance and accompanying, at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA.

Concert appearances spanning over several decades have included many highlights: performances with Metropolitan bass Paul Plishka, CBC recitals with the Rossignol Trio, an orchestral debut at 16 with the Rochester Philharmonic, solo appearances in Ukraine celebrating the country’s independence, and a French art song recital in Paris in 2016. Ms. Bach is also featured as a collaborative pianist with Canadian baritone Russell Braun in the Ukrainian Art Song project recordings.

Since 1995 Ms. Bach has been affiliated with the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music. Her musical, pianistic and teaching gifts have positioned her as a much-valued instructor and collaborative pianist for art song classes, oratorio classes, studio lessons, recitals, and as instructor for university-level pianists. Highly-experienced as a performer, coach and educator, she is comprehensive in her approach to musical preparation and performance artistry, and is esteemed for her effective nurturing and development of young performing artists.
