Dr. Hui Cheng, is a Professor of Voice and Chinese National A-class foreign expert. She started teaching in China since 2014 and served as a distinguished professor in Sanya University, Zhuhai College of Jilin University, School of Music and Dance of Guangzhou University and Teaching College of Yancheng. She was employed as a foreign expert by The China Conservatory of Music.
In 2019, She won the outstanding vocal instructor award of Hong Kong
International Vocal Competition.
She mastered the basic principles of vocal teaching, established the correct concept of vocal teaching, and developed her unique teaching style. She can quickly establish the correct singing method for her students. The progress her students have achieved were highly praised. The graduate students she taught were anked highest in the school.
Dr. Cheng graduated from the Vocal Department of The China Conservatory of Music and was accepted into the Central Opera House. Later, she came to America, studied and received her Master and Doctor degree. She has studied with the world-famous mezzo-soprano Mignon Dunn, the famous voice teacher Ruth Falcon, Metropolitan Opera House music coaches Joan Dornemann, and Dennis Giauque. She has participated in expert training courses in Italy and obtained the guidance of world famous singers Sherrell Milnes and Regine Resnic.
She was active on the opera stage and participated in many operas and concerts. She sang Donna Fulvia in La Pietra del Paragon, Nedda in I Pagliacci, Mimi in La Boheme, Angelica in Suor Angelica, Giorgetta in IL Tabarro, Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly, Violetta in La Traviata, Mrs. Fiorentino in Street Scene and Hanna in Die Lustige Witte. She was the leading soprano of Haydn's Mass at the concert performance at Carnegie Hall in New York; She recorded vocals for the movie Kundun and M. Butterfly; She also recorded a cd for New Century Music as a soprano soloist.
