For the past 40 years, Paula Baack has been dedicated to coaching singers of all ages, from children to adults, while also directing choral ensembles at youth, collegiate, and adult levels.
In 2017, Ms. Baack was honored as the Outstanding Director in Choral Education by the Colorado Springs Chorale Society, and she received the Boettcher Outstanding Colorado Teacher Award in 2014. Her performance experience includes being a singer and soloist in a gospel choir for a preview of DreamWorks' Joseph, King of Dreams, as well as taking on leading and supporting roles in over 40 operatic and musical theater productions. Additionally, she served as a Master Teacher with Sedona Jazz on the Rocks, where she showcased her talents as a featured artist with her vocal jazz group.
Among her talented former students are James Valentine, guitarist and singer for Maroon 5; Nate Zuercher, banjo player and singer for Judah & the Lion; Scottie Johnson, guitarist and singer for the Gin Blossoms; and Scott MacIntyre, who was a Top 10 finalist on Season 8 of American Idol.
Ms. Baack has had 11 students make round two in the Classical Singer competition the past two years, with two singers making the semi-finals.
