Dear Students and Parents:

A few words regarding my private lesson practice and professional experience:

I have taught singing privately since 1969. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and a Master’s in Music Performance (Voice) from Ithaca College School of Music in New York. I’ve also studied at the Crouse Conservatory of Music at Syracuse University and at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

My performance credits include work with the Santa Fe Opera, Western Opera Theater/San Francisco Opera, Charlotte Opera, Grand Rapids Opera, Pittsburgh Opera, the Merry-go-’Round Theater in New York, Ithaca Repertory Theater, and five years with the Cincinnati Opera - both as a member of the Ensemble Company and as a featured singer in major productions. Since 1982 I’ve acted in numerous television and radio commercials, and industrial and medical films, Young People’s After School Specials, and I’ve appeared as a guest artist with the Xavier University Players in Saint Joan and South Pacific.

Performing is exciting, but I still think teaching is my most rewarding work. My current crop of students includes men and women of all ages and backgrounds as well as professional actors, singers, and musicians. All my students share a love of singing and a desire to improve their technical abilities and musical expressiveness.

Nearly everyone’s singing can be improved and, oddly enough, the natural beauty of people’s voices has little to do with whether or not they should study singing - or how well they may sing naturally. The most important “voice quality” is a love of singing and a willingness to work for musical and vocal improvement.
