Holistic vocal solutions is a small voice studio located in the beautiful Italian town of Arezzo. With my husband, Stuart Homan, I teach a wide range of students, from complete beginners to advanced students. I have also taught non-singers - from actors to attorneys - who are looking to feel more comfortable using their speaking voices.

Our premise is that singing should be natural, pain free and a joy: something that brings happiness to you as a singer and to those listening to you. We believe that, sadly, much singing today, whether classical, pop, country or Broadway, sounds forced and unnatural. As a result, both professional and amateur singers often struggle even to get through a simple song or to reach notes that should be easily within their range. We know it doesn’t have to be like that, and we are dedicated to teaching an alternative approach, an approach that restores that wonderful sense of freedom and joy to singing and speaking.

Stuart and I have both studied with numerous teachers in the US and Europe, have sung solo roles with professional choirs and opera companies in New York, Rome, Berlin and other major cities and we continue to perform both here in Italy, and across Europe and the US. We teach both online and in person and occasionally hold workshops and masterclasses for small groups of singers. In our studio we work with beginner students just starting out, while also helping more advanced students to build a solid technique that they can rely on forever. We aim to give students the tools they need to learn and improve by themselves once they have created a solid foundation.

If you decide to work with us, the first lesson is free of charge. In that lesson we will get to know each other, discuss your needs and goals and then begin our singing journey together by working on a simple song or a vocal exercise. Many students find that they make progress just in that first lesson. We are aware that many students’ vocal journeys have been difficult or even traumatic and we do everything we can to ensure that students feel secure, accepted and valued.

Also, if you are also looking to improve your Italian, or even just considering a “singing vacation”, Arezzo is a wonderful small city, located just an hour south of Florence. People are friendly, it’s safe and inexpensive, and there is much to see and explore if you want to. We can also arrange Italian lessons with excellent native Italian speakers and help you find affordable accommodation.
