This class is for High School singers who have not committed to another school or for undergraduates looking for Graduate School opportunities.
Christine Anderson, soprano, is Associate Professor of Vocal Studies and the Coordinator of the Voice and Opera Area at the Boyer College of Music and Dance of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She holds a B.M. in Voice from Illinois Wesleyan University and earned both M.M. and D.M.A. degrees in Voice at the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Anderson has sung numerous performances as soprano soloist with several prestigious contemporary music ensembles and has worked with such composers as Lukas Foss and Kristof Penderecki. In addition, she has had extensive performing experience as a recitalist in programs featuring the premieres of new works.
Before coming to Philadelphia, Dr. Anderson taught in the Musical Theater Department at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. An active pedagogue, Dr. Anderson has presented masterclasses and papers at national and international conferences and universities such as the Australia Voice Symposium (Adelaide), the Music Teacher’s National Association, The Voice Foundation, EWHA Womans University (Seoul), The International Congress of Voice Teachers (Stockholm), and The National Association of Teachers of Singing. She has also served as clinician and adjudicator for several organizations including the Taipei Philharmonic Foundation for Culture and Education, NATS, Classical Singer/CS Music (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou), The Marian Anderson Historical Society, and The Voice Foundation. In 2018 she was the Guest Voice Professor at the Silk Road Music Festival, Xi’an, China. Dr. Anderson has served as pre-concert lecturer for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
In 2014, Dr. Anderson received the Distinguished Teaching Award from the Music and Dance Teaching Academy Committee of the Boyer College at Temple University. Dr. Anderson was honored to receive the 2019 Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Award for Distinguished Teaching.
