It is with reference to this "baroque" definition that Philippe Gautrot and Jean-Paul Combet created the Bach Academy in 1997, a place where artists and audiences passionate about early music and the artistic forms that accompany.
Beyond this nod to the 17th century, we can now define the Bach Academy according to three main axes:
A summer festival , positioned on the last week of August, offering in a few days a real bath of early music. With the very beautiful Gothic church of Arques-la-Bataille as its nerve center, it shines in some of the most remarkable heritage sites in the Dieppe region, the churches of Colmesnil-Manneville, Sainte-Marguerite-sur-Mer, Varengeville- sur-Mer, the floral park of Bois des Moutiers, the castle of Bosmelet, the church of Saint-Rémy in Dieppe,…
A talent scout , who accompanied the beginnings and the development of many ensembles and artists now recognized, in France and around the world: Le Poème Harmonique, Café Zimmermann, the Musicians of Saint-Julien, the Basses Réunies, L 'Arpeggiata, L'Ensemble Pierre Robert, Hélène Schmitt, Céline Frisch, Benjamin Alard, Benjamin Lazar, Alexandra Rübner, the list is not exhaustive...
A structure in tune with its environment , which values artistic creation and cultural rigor in strengthening social ties: reception of artists in residence, production of unusual works, public awareness (schoolchildren, amateur practitioners, disabled people, etc.) ) through musical workshops, master classes, conferences, exhibitions, "Pocket Opera", introduction to Baroque theatre, traditional dances... The DRAC of Normandy has also entrusted him with the inventory of old musical collections kept in the Region , a mission she has been leading since 2004.
