A unique program offering integration of movement, text work and vocal technique to create a fully functional singing actor training program.

The School of Music at Brandon University fosters an environment where we pursue goals, refine craft, realize identity and engage with the world.

Profile:

In recent years our student body has been drawn from across Canada and around the world, including students from Mexico, Russia, Malawi, China, Paraguay, Colombia, Ghana, Japan, Costa Rica, Hungary, South Africa, Ukraine, and the former Yugoslavia. Many students attending the School of Music receive scholarships, assistantships and bursaries, which totaled over $200,000 last year.

The School of Music has an outstanding student/teacher ratio of about 8 to 1, with a teaching body of 21 full-time and 20 part-time faculty members includes internationally renowned performers, conductors, composers and scholars. We also host many visiting professors for short- and long-term residencies. These have included Jazz legend Bob Brookmeyer, American composer George Crumb, Canadian pianist Marc-André Hamelin and ethnomusicologist Parmela Attariwala.
