We are very proud of CSUN Vocal Arts and have had tremendous success in shaping young artists. With renown voice and coaching faculty, we strive to create the important artists of tomorrow. These artists include a number of Metropolitan Opera audition winners, singers enjoying operatic and musical theatre careers in the US and in Europe as well as on the concert stage. Our voice, choral, and opera faculty have had wonderful success training our students and are true mentors. Our students get far more opportunities to perform at CSUN than at many other institutions, especially those with doctoral programs. Our masters students as well as our undergraduates perform roles here in both opera and musical theatre and perform as soloists with our very fine choral groups as well as with the CSUN Symphony. We also host world class artists who present master classes to our students through our Vocal Arts Master Class Series. Notable master teachers have included: Carol Vaness and Michelle DeYoung (both CSUN alums) as well as Frederica Von Stade, William Vendice, Tito Capobianco, Andreas Mitisek, and many others. We are also very fortunate to have a beautiful state of the art Performing Arts Center, The Soraya, which has been named one of the nation's top performing spaces associated with a university. It is a wonderful facility to have on campus, and our students do get to perform in it and are able to attend world class performances just steps away from where they study and live.
