The organization was born in October 2018 from the need to open professionalization spaces for lyrical singers, bring opera to the territories, reinterpret giving context and validity to the operatic language to connect the artistic experience, its access and participation, to the social fabric and therefore consequently encourage the creation of new audiences for the performing arts.
Lírica Disidente is a diverse, critical and community artistic organization that works to popularize opera and lyrical singing, opening community spaces for creation and training around these disciplines. This purpose is pursued by different means, considering collaborative work with organizations, singers, instrumentalists, managers, students, composers, cultural centers, institutions, communities and individuals.
The Dissident Lyric Company, department of Dissident Lyrics, aims to create, produce and tour operatic productions that link operatic language with communities and territories, always having a critical and artistic reading approach that puts the social and political context in the context. axis of the democratization of opera through the identification of communities and their archetypes made invisible with the company's scenic proposals.
During the period 2020 – 2021, a critical period of the COVID-19 pandemic, activities focused on workshops, training talks and seminars in online format where 300 musicians, singers and performing arts professionals could be reached.
With the aim of opening spaces for dialogue and reflection around the social role of artists, seeking to install themes in the medium, in 2020 the Podcast “Tendiendo ropa” was born, which has two seasons available on Spotify and a third in development. In addition to multiple interviews and conversations on Instagram live “Copuchando con la Lírica Disidente”.
Financed by the National Fund for the Promotion and Development of the Performing Arts, 2021 call of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, the National Meeting of Independent Opera (ENOI) is born, an initiative that seeks to install new paradigms of collaboration, management and professionalization for the opera production chain in Chile. In the first version of ENOI, activities were developed around the training of audiences, professionalization of lyrical singers and training and connection with performing arts cultures.
During the second half of 2022, Lírica Disidente, in alliance with Balmaceda Arte Joven, promotes the BAJ National Choir School Program, which opened the door for more than 100 young people in 5 regions of the country to access a pedagogical and social process around to lyrical singing, a pillar of the management model designed by Lírica Disidente, which implemented School Choirs in Valparaíso, Santiago and Biobío as well as Seed Programs for stimulation and deepening in choral singing in Antofagasta and Los Lagos.
In 2023 they took the work A Magical Opera in Chiloé, Bastián and Bastiana to three cities in the country aimed at family audiences. This production will be presented again in 2024, along with 3 new works of a monumental and experimental nature, in co-production with theaters of national relevance. During this same year they carried out a new version of ENOI, considering a training space for singers, a call to write new opera, a conducting course and research to recognize the audiences of the genre.
